Giving Hope / Changing Lives Gala 2023

The Giving Hope Changing Lives Gala was held on April 20th, 2023 at the Galt House in Louisville. Throughout the evening St. Elizabeth celebrated their mission and many blessings while raising funds to support our community programs.

At the gala, several programs were highlighted by current and former clients Supported Living client, Jimmy described how St. Elizabeth helps him with everything from deciphering bills to attending events he might not be able to go to otherwise. Jimmy has been a client for 27 years and is looking forward to many more. Jessica gave an emotional talk about her two children who were adopted through Adoption Bridges of Kentuckiana.  Former shelter client, Andrea told a moving story going from homeless to homeowner thanks to St. Elizabeth’s Residential services.-

Two Spirit of Hope recipients were selected for 2023. Council Member Fran Brown not only developed cooking, sewing, and crafting programs for our residents, but she also recruited volunteer groups to support her ministry both in the shelter and from afar. As a retired special education teacher, Fran has been a long-time advocate for individuals with disabilities and also assists with a number of Supported Living Program events. Fr. Sonny Day, as Pastor of numerous Southern Indiana parishes and former Dean of the New Albany Deanery, has played a vital role to St. Elizabeth Agency offering his leadership, prayer, and guidance. Even after retirement, Fr. Sonny continues to work hands-on as a volunteer in our Marie’s Blessings program and continues to participate in St. Elizabeth events. Watch Fr. Sonny’s video above or on YouTube along with other videos from the Giving Hope – Changing Lives Gala

Thanks to your donations and auction bids, St. Elizabeth’s earned a revenue of over $320k! That will go a long way in serving the Southern Indiana/Metro Louisville area. We are truly blessed to have such a giving community.

Fruit Of Thy Womb Sculpture Blessing & Unveiling

We are excited to announce a new Holy Trinity Heritage Park bronze spiritual art sculpture was unveiled and blessed on Tuesday, May 2nd. The event was followed by a mass conducted by recent Spirit of Hope recipient and Marie’s Blessings volunteer, Fr. Sonny Day.

The bronze sculpture, titled “Fruit of Thy Womb,” was created by world renowned Canadian Artist Timothy P. Schmalz. Schmalz’s religious and figurative sculptures can be seen around the world, including pieces installed in historical churches in Rome and the Vatican. In an intimate and heart-warming depiction of the Visitation, Elizabeth is shown on her knees with her ear on Mary’s pregnant stomach and a hand on her own. This sculpture marks the second in Holy Trinity Heritage Park created by Schmalz, with the other being entitled “When I Was Hungry & Thirsty” which was unveiled in Fall 2022.

St. Elizabeth Catholic Charities has been blessed with community partners and donors who helped to make these additions to the park come to fruition. We thank each one of you for your commitment to St. Elizabeth’s mission and programs.
