Fruit of Thy Womb is a bronze sculpture created by world-renowned Canadian artist Timothy P. Schmalz, whose religious and figurative works can be found around the world, including in historic churches throughout Rome and the Vatican. Dedicated in 2022, Fruit of Thy Womb became the second Schmalz sculpture installed in Holy Trinity Heritage Park.

The sculpture offers an intimate and heartwarming depiction of the Visitation between Mary and Elizabeth. Elizabeth is shown kneeling before Mary, gently placing her ear against Mary’s pregnant stomach while resting a hand on her own. The tender scene captures the shared joy of the two expectant mothers and the sacredness of the life they carry.

Fruit of Thy Womb was selected for Holy Trinity Heritage Park as a meaningful homage to the humble beginnings of St. Elizabeth Catholic Charities as a maternity home. While the organization’s services have grown significantly over the years to meet a wide range of community needs, its maternity shelter remains at the heart of its mission. The sculpture serves as a lasting reminder of those beginnings and of St. Elizabeth’s enduring commitment to supporting mothers, children, and families.
